2021 Season

The club was active with both social and league bowling this year. We offered two teams in the Club 55 league and were delighted at the success of the Bretton Beagles, who played in the division above the Bretton Badgers.

Social bowling was popular, with many people attending regularly and enjoying the game in the company of good friends.

We ran a couple of Open Friendly afternoons that were well attended, and our usual end-of-season Charity Match. Thanks to the generosity of those who took part we were able to raise a substantial amount for Peterborough Soup Kitchen. It was good to be able to hand the cheque for £350 over at our Trophy Dinner, as well as giving prizes to the internal competition winners and runners-up.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of George Turner at the end of September. With Angela, he was a longstanding and respected member of the club. His kindly and caring manner endeared him to all; a number of those members who knew him were honoured to act as a guard of honour at his funeral, as we wanted to offer this small token of appreciation for his service to the bowls club. We have now put a plaque on the bench that he and Angela donated to the club, so he will always be remembered.
